How do you feel at peace when you’re feeling guilty about work while you’re relaxing or guilty about not relaxing while you’re working?
Guilt is the enemy of peace and productivity. โฎ๏ธ๐งพ
In my group and private coaching calls yesterday GUILT was a popular topic among both MEN AND WOMEN!
(No, feeling guilty about work is not a female issue – top male executives feel it too.)
“I feel like I’m never doing enough work, it never stops.”
๐ GUILT
“At the partner level, I feel like I should always be working, not taking time off.”
๐ GUILT
“I know I have work to do, so I will cancel plans with my family (or myself) to get caught up (which will never happen!)”
๐ GUILT
GUILT: it CAN inspire you to work on a lingering task…BUT….
beyond that ๐ guilt serves ZERO purpose.
GUILT steals joy and happiness from your life.
Compare that to one of my private coaching clients, who happened to be on the group coaching call too:
“Thanks to working with Allison privately:
โ
In December I took a full vacation with ZERO guilt (for the first time in my career)
โ
I had everything done and organized before I left
โ
and last week, when I had a family emergency, I took days off to grieve because that’s what I needed to do and I did so with ZERO guilt.”
She continued to share with the group:
“In the past, I would have squeezed worked around family time and not been present at all. This time, I knew exactly what I needed to do to take guilt-free time to focus on my family. This week I have some catching up to do, but I’ll use Allison’s system and I’m not overwhelmed by that at all.”
If you need a better system to do all you do without the risk of burnout – send me a DM. My private or group coaching or training programs may be exactly what you need!
