Leadership friction reset

When leadership friction hurts performance – it's time for a reset.

You’ll know it’s time for a Leadership Friction Reset when the underlying tension between good, capable leaders and/or departments makes working together harder than the work itself.

As one client explained it, “Allison, a year ago, coming to work was a pleasure. We were an optimistic team. Now, I hear the grumblings in the hallways. I can’t quite explain it, but the vibe feels ‘off’.”

Even if you can’t pinpoint the core issue, it’s hard to miss its impact on capacity.

  • The same complaint gets stuck on repeat.
  • Legitimate questions are heard as criticism.
  • Emails need decoding.
  • Leadership decisions are being undermined.
  • Meetings-after-the-meeting have become gossip circles.

Whether you’re part of the friction or responsible for resolving it, it’s time to clear the air and get the team back on track.

The Leadership reset

The process is the same whether it’s between two leaders or a larger group:

  • One confidential conversation with each participating leader to understand their perspective, priorities and points of friction.
  • I’ll identify the recurring patterns, disconnects and capacity drains affecting the team.
  • One facilitated leadership reset session with all participating leaders.
  • The team leaves with greater clarity around what needs to change, how they will address friction when it surfaces and a practical path forward.
  • A post-session debrief to assess the reset and determine any next step.

Each person needs to be willing to speak with me honestly, take part in the reset conversations, and follow through on their commitments.

My strength is uncovering the truth that keeps situations stuck, even when the people inside the tangle can’t see it clearly. I provide a safe, confidential environment to put the real issues on the table and use my 20 years of consulting experience to guide the conversation toward solutions that ease the tension.

Investment & Time Commitment

The investment is $2,500 per participating leader plus tax. A flat fee for travel is required for in-person sessions and is agreed to in advance. Allocate approximately five hours per participating leader over 30 days:

  • Individual conversations, virtual: approximately 1.5 hours per person.
  • Facilitated group session, virtual or in-person: approximately 2.5 hours.
  • Post-session debrief, virtual: 1 hour.
