How can you handle client requests for speech changes?
Being flexible as a speaker makes clients want to work with you. Adjust to best serve the audience, but don't adjust in a way that compromises the integrity of your intellectual property and end product. YOU know your content and over time you'll know what makes the most powerful impact. It's totally fine to share that with a client if they are trying to change your content in ways that doesn't align for you. I've noticed that speakers who have clear positioning, specific outcomes, strong intellectual property and are confident in their message are rarely asked to adjust their content - only to align it for the audience. If a client thinks they can micromanage your speech - then there's likely something missing in one of the above.

How can you adapt your motivational speeches for maximum stakeholder engagement across cultures?
In addition to asking the organizers important and obvious questions such as what are the biggest challenges facing members of the audience and what do you want them to think, feel, and do after they hear my speech - it's been helpful to have calls with a handful of audience members prior to giving my speech. This allows me to weave relevant stories into my frameworks. It also gives me insight to be sure the desired outcomes from the audience's perspective AND the organizers perspective are aligned. If advanced calls aren't feasible, having meaningful conversations with attendees at the pre-networking events and even in the hallway prior to stepping on stage lets you customize on-the-fly.

After surviving and flourishing during her decade of hell, Allison Graham has become a master at navigating tasks, obstacles and adversity. In her third book, she pulls back the curtain on her private struggles with chronic pain, grief, surgeries and injuries, as well as the mental, emotional and financial turmoil that compounded life’s challenges.
This book is meant to open an authentic conversation about the invisible game of life-sized Whack-A-Mole we all play, swatting down one problem just in time for another to erupt.
Allison illustrates her insights by sharing the best and worst stories along her journey. She speaks aloud the words from the harshest critic of all, the Internal Messenger of B.S., to encourage you to release guilt, judgment and comparisons that cause self-sabotage and keep you stuck.
Allison’s candid account about her biggest mistakes and how she persevered will make you feel less alone in your struggles. You’ll acquire coping skills, build confidence and find blessings amidst the harshest circumstances to create a joyful, fulfilled life no matter what the proverbial fan blows your way.
Among Allison’s greatest resources during it all was the unconditional love and support from her mom, who moved to the city to help her when doctors recommended she consider going on disability, and the loyal companionship of her dog Winston C.
So, grab a drink, a comfy spot to read and get ready to power through your troubles and emerge as a Resiliency Ninja!
